Mini Rex color..help

As a mini rex breeder, I can tell you, those arent mini rexes. They look like Netherland Dwarfs.

The Doe looks caster/chestnut.
Not real sure with the buck, looks like broken red, but Im only good with mini rex colors.
The kit is harlequin.

Breeding wise, you will probly end up with caster/chestnut no matter what color you breed the doe to, plus breeding to another caster/chestnut would be best, to get good colored kits.

Here is what a jr. castor mini rex looks like.


This baby is about 2 almost 3 months of age so the body type should be similar to this jr bucks.

he isnt posed correclty in this shot but you can see more of his face

and here he is a little older but you can see his face. He had a bit od summer ear but with this heat it been hard to prevent so the ears normally are a bit shorter at this age.

the castor color will darken as he comes of age.

as a mini rex breeder also i have to agree with what others have said they r not pure mini rex babies(unless they r imbred causeing defects or they r throughbacks from a mixed breeding back several generations). even their fur doesn't look right to me and they look more like my friends netherland dwarfs but they have wrong fur for them also. from what i can see in pics i think it is a cross of netherland dwarf and mini rex. mini rex fur is to be 1/2 inch and 7/8 inch long. they r to have a head like a meat rabbit which should be triangle shaped not block looking heads like urs have that resemble dwarfs.

here is some younger babies pics to help u more below. as a good breeder that really upsets me someone would not only lie to u but also sell u babies so young. babies need to be with there mom's till they r 8 weeks old some i leave longer for runts. i have let them go at 6 weeks for big babies i knew would be fine but 4.5 weeks is way to young they should be with their momma and if the baby doesn't have it's eyes open it is less than 10 days old. how on earth r u feeding it?? it just makes me sad to know someone would sell them like that, i would never buy from anyone who sells babies under 6 weeks old it is unethical and dangerous for the babies and the breeder should have known better. i hope u don't think i'm being harsh but u have a right to know what u were sold. if u were sold them as purebreds i'd honestly ask for my money back from the breeder because he didn't sell u what u were told they were and that is not right.

kuntrycritters what state are you in? We may be able to help find a good breeder and if your near Kansas i just bred one of our does and should have castors, bkn castors, bkn black and blacks and id come let you pic one out. They from top show lines back home in michigan and the sire has one Best of Breed in both open and youth (in fact on my BYC page there is a picture of my son with the sire winning his first BOB in the youth divison and a GC leg) or I have a pet bkn. black buch his body type just isnt up to my show standard and the kids won him in a auction....he is a character we we love him so we have kept him around. I also just dont agree with people who sell rabbits with DQ's and such to people with out making them aware...its not fair to you or the kids....even if you got them just as pets they should of told you.
