Mini sized Egg..........

So, our hens have been laying daily since 12/29. Today we got a mini-sized egg, about the size of a quail's egg.... A beautiful dark brown, perfect shape but mini. Any clues anybody? All our hens are healthy and eating wll...

These are usually called "fart" or "wind" eggs and are a normal occurrence for hens that are just starting to lay. You may also discover incredibly large eggs, these too are normal for hens that haven't been laying long. Both are abnormalities that are associated with a reproductive tract that isn't quite at top game yet... meaning asynchronized.
