Ever since I learned to can (as in canning) I had made spiced miniature pears. I have not been able to get the mini pears for several years now and between moving and other "disasters" the recipe has been lost. I now can get the pears but haven't been able to find a recipe that seems to come close! HELP!!! Some may know them as pickled spiced pears. Please help me find a recipe!!! Thanks!

I have an old recipe for peach pickles may not be to far off.
Peach pickles
10 lbs peaches after paring
4 lbs. sugar
1 qt. vinegar
1 T. cloves
1 T. Cinnamon
Boil syrup, pour over peaches. Let stand over nite, heat and can.

Ok I found one in the Pennsylvania dutch cook book.

Pickled pears
14 lbs. pears
1 qt. cider vinegar
6 lbs. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon stick broken ito pieces
1 tsp. whole cloves
Any good pear can be used.Slice and remove core or pickle whole.Peel pears.put spicesin a small cheese cloth bag. and add to vinegar and sugar. bring to a boil.Add pears and cook until tender. The pears will look clear when tender.Remove them with a spoon and place in jars.Boil syrup until thick and pour over pears and seal.

I wish you luck.
My Grandmother used to make pickled pears, pickled peaches, and wedding ring pickles (bell peppers). I fondly remember gorging on these. Unfortunately She never passed on the recipe. I remember them being more spicy than sweet.
