Miniature straw bales?

I live in NJ and I'm trying to find a mini strawbale to put into a coop that can't fit the normal size of a strawbale. Mostly for insulation and boredom buster.

Couldn't you divide it up and store the rest for later?
I have a small run and so give my girls about quarter bale of straw at a time. They love scratching it to pieces

I like to have the strings on it so it doesnt come about but yes I was thinking about that. I have 2 bales in our giant run.

It will come apart regardless. The chickens will greatly enjoy taking it apart over the next month or so.

You could flake the bale out and tie up the flakes.
I keep a bale in my DIY 'bale bag'.

They are tied with straps inside the plastic bags. Though I would describe them as shorter chops than the larger hay bales.

Cut the strings. Carefully divide into small bales. Retie or add string. We do this at Halloween. Share a bale between a couple households.
