minimum pen size

Hi guys! I haven't got my pheasants yet and am still planning their pen. I am planning on just getting a few (maybe three) Red Golden males. I wasn't planning on any females(just like looking at the males, don't really want to breed them). My question is how big of a pen would I need for three males to live in? How much of it would need to be covered as opposed to screened? Thanx in advance,

i would go no smaller than 10x20. I put an old pet carrier in my aviary and covered it with mosses so it looks natural. my goldens like to hang out in there when its raining. the entire top of the pen is bird netting. theyre very hardy birds.

I have a book that says goldens need 100 square feet apiece. I wouldn't quite go to that extent, because they will do alright in smaller aviaries. Good luck!

I used to have a male red golden, yellow golden, and lady amherst in a 8'x15' pen and they did fine.

Bigger is always better if you can do it. Although some people do keep them in smaller areas I personally would not go smaller than the 100 sq ft usually recommended (example 10' x 10'). My breeding trios are kept in 12' x 12' pens.
