Hi all, I'm getting very worried, I have 18 hens and they have a large run, my neighbours have seen a lot of minks around the place, one of my neighbours saw one on my other neighbours lawn close to their chickens, I have a long driveway and have seen and trapped minks in the past, a year ago one killed my 2 peacocks and I never want to go through that experience again, my neighbours have seen one on the road nearly every day this week and last week, how can I keep my girls safe? I don't know what to do as the mink can break through wire, please send advice as I'm very worried. This is a pic of my run

A secure night time coop.
Most hunting by mink and weasel happen at night.
This is when your birds will be most venerable to all preditors also as they have no night vision.
They mostly freeze in place and are easy pickings
Concentrate on your coop.
A solid wooden building or structure reinforced with hardware cloth over any windows, gaps or openings.
Locking doors, lids, and poop doors.
A solid wooden floor, with a hardware apron dug around base, or a cement floor even better.
Occasionally you will hear of a real hungry or brazen mink hunting chicken during daylight hours, but not often.
Good luck!

Oh yes! Sorry the I don't think the coop was in the picture it's a 6ft by 8ft shed and I lock them in every night, I lock then into it every night and count them. (I count them 3 or 4 times as I want to be sure they're all safe) the hens are my let's and would hate for a mink to get them. Thanks

If this is all fenced looks like you could get a couple of dogs.

That's my coop there, I have reinforced it as it has gotten quite old. I'm looking to find a new shed so they will be safer. Yes I have 2 dogs that are with them the majority of the time.
Thanks for your replies as I have been very worried.
Thanks
