Hi, I just got some chicks two weeks ago from a lady who lives not to far from us. I have 4 Faverolles, 1 half Faverolles, 3 silkies and a mystery chick I'm trying to figure out what breed she is. So far I think I have 1 rooster and as long as they don't tell me otherwise the rest are girls:fl.

Just finished the run for the chicks when they get big enough and soon starting on fixing up the old chicken coop.

I know I'm probably not supposed to play favorites, but I have one black/dark silkie that is the smallest, and the loudest. She's so sweet!

Hope I can find a lot of information here about chicks and how to raise them, but I'm hoping I am not going to be so much ;)addicted to chickens that I won't have room in the coop;).

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! You might like to check out the BYC Learning Center, lots of good articles on all aspects of chicken keeping you'll find helpful, especially check out the Raising Chicks part, some nice articles on taming and socializing chicks etc. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
You are wise to be afraid of Chicken Math, but it will get you in the end, so be sure to build your coop bigger than you think it needs to be :D be sure to check out the Coops section for ideas www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coop_Designs good luck with your coop build and repair.
And it is always fun to check out your state thread for chicken keeping neighbors https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/72771/minnesota
