There are better ways to handle them. You can just let them sit on your hand, they won´t fly away.Here they are at two weeks old.

The hatchery these are from give a "rare" breed chick free with the shipment. I could be mistaken, but the Brown Leghorn isn't likely to fit in that category. They are far more common (at least in the Midwest) than a Silver Leghorn.No need to put the stones in it, they will not drown in it
