Hello friends,
I was at a family gathering an hours drive from home when I got the call from my husband. Our flock had been attacked by a pack of dogs. Feathers were scattered all around and birds were missing. Yes, Miracle was amoung the missing. I headed home right away. It was a long drive by myself with thoughts of how I was going to tell all of you that Miracle was gone.
When I got home my husband had found one dead guinea and another one badly injured. There was no sign of Miracle but no sign of Miracle's feathers either. It took a while to get a head count on the birds that were left because more kept showing up. Most of them had flown into the trees. I walked around the barn and there was Miracle standing there preening her feathers. What a relief. I'm very upset about the birds I lost and the one that is injured but thrilled that we didn't loose Miracle.
The dogs killed one chicken, one guinea, and the injured guinea will probably not make it through the night. (all hens) They will be back for more and I hope we are ready. One of them appeared to be a coyote so they could be mixes traveling and hunting together. Miracle will be staying in with the little chicks tomorrow.
Sadly,
Mena
