Miracle- Hello! guinea/chicken crossbreed

Mena, keep the birds inside. I had to keep my birds in the barn for almost 2 weeks one fall. That was the fall I got a decent rifle with a scope and took care of the immediate problem. A .243 is always a good choice for coyotee, they are relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to get to "know".

My wife uses a "compact" Ruger Hawkeye .260 remington caliber with a burris scope. I use a 25-06 Howa with a propriatory load and scope.

We have mini horse babies and keeping them safe is always a concern.

Just make sure you choose a light weight rifle so you will not hesitate to use it.

I keep a .17 hmr handy for when I check on my birds. It takes out coons, snakes and coyotes...haven't had the pleasure of a fox yet, but when the time comes, it will have it's turn at some fox! It is lightweight and I swear the size of it was made just for a woman!

*EDIT - forgot to say that it was a Savage rifle with a varmint scope (not sure on brand)

I have not heard of the food coloring trick but I have heard of the lip stick trick. It was for telling which chicken laid which egg. It would work in this case too - just wouldn't need but one color. It went something like this:

Get wife's purse .....take out several tubes of lipstick.......put different color on each chicken's vent........put lipstick back in purse.

That was not my joke but I sure thought it was funny.

You just match up the eggs with the color you put on their vent. I believe I would retire the lipstick at that point.

I guess I need to get a picture of myself chasing Miracle with a tube of lipstick.

Coyotee..... I have my reservations here though. Unless you are a REALLY good shot, they will move on with a 17 HMR in them.

The 260 Remington does put them down. The new line of Ruger M77 Hawkeye Compact Rifles are very very cool. They are 16.5″ carbines chambered in the intermediate .223 Rem, 7.62×39mm and 6.8mm SPC cartridges as well as the .300 Ruger Compact Magnum, .243 Win. 7mm-08, .308 Win. and .260 Rem.

The .243, 7mm-08m .308, 260 and the lesser know ones (the 22-243, 270-308, 338 federal, 258 winchester) are all in the 308 short action family I have never shot a .223, a 7.62x39, a 6.8 SPC or the .300 ruger compact magnum.

LOVE the lipstick idea. Your wife is going to kill you though. oh i know it is a joke, kinda.
