Mirrors for Mallard

I read somewhere that if you put a mirror in with a baby mallard it can help them to not feel as lonely. Does anyone know if this is true?

I don't know about using a mirror, but we raised a single last year with a stuffed monkey for company. That seemed to help a lot. He spent a lot of his ducklinghood snuggling with the thing until he got way bigger than it. Then he would just sit on the poor monkey.

I used both a mirror and a turkey feather duster for my solo hatch. It worked great.

That is so sweet!!! I wonder if it is too late to get him a stuffed friend. He has been sleeping solo for a week. I think I'll try it tonight.

Ps..how did you keep him from pooping on his stuffed friend?
