Ok, so I am a sucker for my daughters' doe-eyes and this year I let them get some chicks out of the "misc. bantum" bin at TSC. They had some silkies (which are easy to identify) and two chicks that had "interesting down patterns". Now that we got them, can anyone help me identify them? Both chicks are about 16 weeks.

The hen (brown) looks like it might be a Barbu d’Anvers or Belgiun d'Uccle. It has the same face tufts as my easter eggers but, as far as I know, easter eggers don't come in bantum.

The roo (blue) I have know idea about. I know he's a roo though, because he has the cutest little crow.

He is cute! She could be an Easter Egger bantam; I have them, originally from Cackle. It's also possible that she's a Belgian d'Uccle with bare legs, a fault, but can occur. Find out what hatchery they came from, and look up or call to learn what bantam breeds they carry.

A lot of hatchery's breed them. And Quail is the most common pattern. The rose comb is usually the biggest clue.

Grey Farms: Thanks for the ID. That seems to be spot on!

I admit that the d'Anvers (meaning mine, not the breed) didn't grab me but the OEGB, well, I like the blue coloring on animals be it chicken or rabbit. Having read about the breeds a little, my opinion might be switching.
