The stuff I have pretty much stays in a clump...will grow outwards somewhat and the inside of clump will kind of thin out and die off.
The cut off old growth has a pretty hard main stalk, doesn't break down, as evidenced by the old piles of it in my burn area.... still stiff and intact.
I'm wishing I hadn't sold my chipper shredder.....might have to borrow one next spring.
