Hi. I have 16 hens, all laying. For the past two days we have found two eggs that are kind of 'wrinkled' looking. I am not sure which one is laying them. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this? I did dust them with DE a few days ago. Could that have caused it? I wouldn't think so since we have only found two eggs like that. I would appreciate any information you could give me.

We have found that we get wrinkled eggs if the hen feels rushed such as another hen forcing her out of the nest or some other traumatic deal. If the shell doesn't have complete time to harden before it is layed then it will wrinkle on it's way out and then harden.

That could very well be the case. We have a lot of nest boxes but they all want in the same one.

I have this happen occasionally too. I don't think it is any thing to worry about. As long as you don't notice soft shell eggs, that is a sign they need more calcium.
