Hi, I let my chickens (19 of them) out of there coop this morning like any other ordinary morning. I came out to put them up at about 7:30 (sun down) and one of my brahmas was missing. I searched for about and hour or so. I looked all over the place and I can't find her.

All of my chickens come to my call, but she wouldn't come when I called multiple times. There was no feathers or blood anywhere, and she doesn't wander that far from the house by herself. What do you think happened to her?, do you think she will be able to survive the night if she is still out there somewhere?

I read a post on here that said her Polish (as we all know don't free range well) went missing, and she found it a mile away pecking some grass on the side of the road. Do you think my Brahma has a chance?

Thanks,
~Animals970~

Hope so. She may have gotten broody in a private nesting site. She may have gone exploring a bit too far from home and forgotten to get back for curfew! It doesn't necessarily mean she's been predated. Cross fingers and hope for the best and give a bigger hunt in the morning if she's not back.

2 of mine went missing in the last month. 1 was a pullet I didn't even know was laying had a nest under my house, I saw her when she came out to eat about a week later. The other 1 stayed gone for 2 days then suddenly she was back. Never knew what her deal was.
Hopefully yours will turn up,

@heartsizedfarm . @ChickenLegs13 . Thank you for the quick reply, it is about 7:15 here now, so I'm gonna be going out to look for her this morning. My parents heard a chicken last night at around 4:00 so I hope she is ok.

Oh sorry, I forgot to post. Yes I did find her... under my porch dead. She had definently been predated.

We were missing a chicken and we thought she had either died or gotten out of our backyard somehow. Then we found her hiding in a area covered by St John's wort and Ivy, along with 15 eggs :|.

So she might be alive and just being broody.
