I have a flock of 21 chickens (19 hens and 2 roosters). They free range and have an exceptionally large coop. I noticed today that a few hens are missing back feathers. They’re not a year old yet so I don’t think molting. They get to forage, scratch and layer pellets. Do I need to intervene? Or watch? I thought I had enough hens for the two boys

It doesn’t look super serious, I wouldn’t be too concerned if I were you. Just keep an eye on it and if there is ever enough feathers gone to where you can see skin that’s when you should worry. Your hen to roo ratio sounds good, sometimes they just have favorites they mate more. If you don’t want any feathers missing (like you are planning to show etc) you can always buy a saddle ☺️
