Not really. I never let mine spend the night on their hidden nests. I force them off of the nests and herd them into my secure coop for the night.Ok, so, we went from 7, 6, today was 5. Yesterday we went Looking for nests, didn't find anything.
Today I saw flock hanging around a particular spots and kept going back to it. I go over to take a squiz, and found missing #6 and #7 on a nest
Is there anyway I can protect them while not distributing them to much? Or let nature do its thing ?
Same, except that I let them keep coop nests, though I still manage those by getting them off once a day and collecting the newly laid eggs. Not really. I never let mine spend the night on their hidden nests. I force them off of the nests and herd them into my secure coop for the night.
I also collect the eggs daily and keep a minimum of 3 fake eggs in the nests to keep them from making new nests. If I want any hatched, I incubate them.

I trained mine w/millet in a coffee can. I'd put millet in different areas in coop -an area for each to go to, then combine clapping my hands and shaking the coffee can. They learned to associate both sounds independent of each other as a call to return to coop. The "twins" are slowly catching on, but still learning. Thanks I shall do this. If they stop attacking me![]()
