I'm really worried about one of my girls. I have five hens and I let them free range during the day, usually when I'm home. I let them out earlier today around 11 am. About an hour later I went out and saw only four!
I have a bell on my back door that I ring and they come running (they get raisins and will bolt to that door at the sound of the bell).
I have been ringing the bell all day and one of my girls is still MIA.
I searched most of my property which is lots of woods and I couldn't find her! I didn't see any feathers or blood. I locked up my other hens in the run just in case. They seemed fine, nothing scared them. They usually move in a pact so if she was attacked I figured I would have heard something or at least gotten a reaction from the other hens.
Does anyone have any ideas of what could have happened to her or taken her? It's about dusk and I did another search, no luck.
