Mission: Help Me Save My Tasty Chicken!

You're right, aquarium tubing will also work.

Green poop from anything that's being fed enough is not normal. How much do you feed per day?

-Kathy

she weighs 1.04# - I have been trying to feed her at least in the morning before work, when I get home and if the crop is empty, before bed, but typically it's only 2x a day.

The syringe is 2 tablespoons and I try to get 2 tubes - 4 tablespoons. It makes a good lump in the crop. I'm afraid to try for more and have it come up and aspirate her. Her poos were turning brown, but then green again.

4 tablespoons is 60ml, which is a lot for a bird her size, so I wouldn't try giving more than that at each feeding. Is there any way that you could feed her 3 times a day? What food to water ratio are you using?

-Kathy

oh, do you think that's too much in a feeding? I just started the kaytee last night, but I'm giving the least amount of water so it flows thru the tube. Probably 1 food/2 water or so. I figure the more food, the more energy.

I work all day so it's a little difficult to do 3x without jamming in after work. I can probably give her another tonight since it was early enough on the 2nd one.

If they don't vomit, it's not too much. lol. So what's her total fluid intake per day (that includes what you use in the food)?

Oh my- I wouldn't mind if you invaded Tasty's thread at all!! Hopefully your little girl is doing better. Does she have a name? And thanks so much for the idea about acquarium tubing! I picked up some when I went to get the baby bird food. I am so grateful to everyone for trying to help me save Tasty chicken.
My husband will be home in a few minutes and we will try our first tube feeding. Fingers crossed!!

I would try to melt the end with a lighter a little, it did make it smoother.

The Kaytee is so easy to feed, but I suppose so would babyfood.

Penelope died :( Kathy had said she thought she was dying. I had tube fed, then thought some gatorade might be good for hydration since she had green poo. I then gave her some and that was too much, she died shortly after. I hope I didn't aspirate her, it was horrible.

Good luck with the feeding!

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear about Penelope. It sounds like you do absolutely everything you cook. What a lucky and loved little chicken.
We actually did get the Kaytee baby bird food. And tube feeding has been going well! As well as can be expected I guess....lol. This will be the 3rd day treating with Corid so I'm hoping she will perk up a bit soon.
