So in a few days when my new incubator arrives I'm going to be attempting a mission impossible of sorts...

I'm going to attempt to hatch fertile eggs my Mom has had in her fridge for like 2 months.

Yup, I'm crazy, but we think it'll be a fun experiment. The eggs are mostly from 2 of the hens she lost a few days back to a fox. I went through and did the float test on them all and only a few didn't float like a cork so those are the ones I'm going to try. They still weren't laying down like I would've preferred but honestly what's the harm in trying? If we get some chicks then awesome! If not, well, I made some room in the fridge. :plbb

The incubator is a IncuView All-In-One that should be here in a couple days. This won't really be a fair test of it's capabilities but if anything hatches I will definitely be impressed. I've currently got the eggs stored in a chillier part of the house but no longer in the fridge. Any tips or suggestions for this journey?

Dad did slip me an egg from their only remaining hen today to put in as well. It's a RIRxFBCM. The other eggs would be RIRxCochin/Dark Cornish crosses.

I find it humorous that he gave it to me since he spent the whole time I was there getting the eggs telling me it wasn't going to work, nothing was going to hatch and he didn't want anything to hatch as he wanted to start over with all new hens anyway... uh huh. Then why give me the still warm from the chicken butt nugget? :gig

Incubator shipped out this morning so it should be here Monday or Tuesday hopefully. My chances are already slim to none so the sooner it gets here the better. I honestly do not have high expectations for this but it'll be fun all the same.

Still rotating the eggs while waiting on my incubator. I'm getting frustrated with the lack of shipping updates. Last update was 2 days ago. Come on FedEx. If you're saying you left my package for 2 days at a facility I'm going to be a little ticked.

I may end up pulling out my old FI incubator and just giving it a go until the new one gets here. Problem is it doesn't hold temp well...

I'm beyond frustrated atm. My incubator was supposed to be here yesterday by 8pm. It didn't show and the tracking changed the delivery date to today except when I check on it the last location was in Chicago and so it probably won't be here until tomorrow at the earliest. Seems nothing likes to ever go right for me...

Still keeping the eggs cooled and rotated. I checked the aircells yesterday and a couple are a little larger than I would like but not too terrible. Fingers crossed that incubator shows soon and there isn't any damage or faults. :fl

Well I finally got the eggs in the bator! I had to cull 2 more though as they started to smell. :( I honestly have no hope for this hatch but I'm still going to try. Who knows maybe I'll be surprised. Lol There is 1 fresher egg in there that has a very good chance of hatching at least. Anywho fingers crossed!!

The 5 on the left are the ones I'm really hoping to get a chick from as they are from the deceased hens. The other 3 on the right are from the still living BCM hen
