Hey this is allready more fun than fb. Been buying farm eggs from my farmer friends for years. Lookin forward to eating my first city grown egg. Been told it takes awhile.

Welcome stjoescratch, can I assume you are from St. Joseph Missouri? I live in the heart of Kansas City, MO. For three years I have dabbled with chickens at a family lake home down in the Ozarks and then given them away at the end of each summer. But this fall I took the plunge and brought them home. It is so much fun. I had no idea what broody was but when I had two hens go broody I went out to get fertilized eggs. I hatched two, OK I guess I should give them the credit, my Buff Orringotn hatched two baby chicks.

There are lots of chicken up in the St Joe area, lots of farm land there.
