Misting duck eggs day 2 of incubation

I have used the cooling & misting method last year & I believe I started after day 11.

From what I read you want to not do it the first week to mimic the way a broody duck would do it. Normally they don’t start leaving the nest until after the 1st week.

To mist I just get a spray bottle and put 100 degree warm water in it right? How long do I cool for 30 or 10 mins? I cool and then mist and then put in the incubator or does it matter

A clean spray bottle preferably that has not been used for any chemicals. I use room temp water.

I’ll take the lid off for around 10-15 mins then spray down with water & put the lid back on.

The day you start spraying the eggs you won’t really have to worry about refilling the incubator slats/ or wet sponge to keep humidity up because spraying the eggs does that. Just keep an eye on your humidity temps. You may have to add more you may not.

The last 3 days I stop misting/cooling & get my incubator up to 65 for humidity put everything into lockdown & wait.

Be prepared that ducklings take forever. So even if you see an external pip it can take up to 48 hours for that duckling to get out.

Oh room temp water ok.. my incubator doesn't have a humidity reader and I tried calibrating a hygrometer but by then the eggs were already in the incubator because I didn't want them to die. The hygrometer has been in the zip lock bag with the salt and I'd check up on it and it was slowly rising it reads 74% right now and it took two days to get that high, or it was at 50%. So I don't know if I should re start the test?
