For 30 chickens, let me throw out a different idea for your automatic watering that would be way less work and might do the trick.
We use a 5-gallon bucket with 4 horizontal nipples on it (Amazon). This lasts 15-20 chickens a month, so you'd need two of them if you want to go that long. We put a 1/2 teaspoon of RV Water Freshener in it when we fill it, and it keeps it crystal clear until the next refill about a month later.
