I have a broody silkie that I'm letting foster two chicks that hatched Saturday. This morning I was looking at her and noticed that she had some stuff on her back. On closer inspection, I realized that she has a severe mite infestation, and that they were on the surface of her back feathers! I want to dust her to remove the mites and prevent the chicks from getting them (if they don't have them already), but am unsure if will be dangerous for the chicks to be exposed to the dust. Does anyone know if I should do it or not?
