Mite?

I was given two 5-6 week old chicks.
One if the 2 has feet with spots all over. Mite?
Do I treat both? They’ve been kept together, always been inside the house, the other one’s feet look fine. Previous owners never noticed anything.

Looks more like injury - possibly the other chick is picking at this one's feet or the chick is picking at it's own.

You got some photos of the whole birds too?

The legs looks a bit dry. I think I would work some vaseline into the legs and dot the scabs with triple antibiotic ointment. You can apply vaseline to the other chick's legs too, it won't hurt anything.

What are you going to feed? I think I would also direct dose both birds with poultry vitamins like Poultry Cell at 1cc per 3 pounds of weight for a few days too.

Look them both over for lice or mites on the body. Do you have an existing flock?

Ive been watching the bird. He’s got VERY long toes with VERY long nails.
He keeps stepping on his own feet, creating new scabs due to dry skin and sharp nails. I’ve put some pavers in the crate hoping that’ll cut them down a bit, and slabbed his feet in vaseline. There’s no pecking going on, they’re actually super cute together.

yes I have an existing flocks. They’re separated though.

If you need to, take a nail file and file the nails down a little taking care not to get into the quick. With a lighter nail like that you can see the quick if you hold a flashlight underneath the nail, if the quick is not close to the end, you can trim the nails with dog clippers or since he's young a toenail clipper may do the trick, then file and smooth out the ends.

I think I would still give them poultry vitamins a couple of times a week. I like Poultry Cell since it's got most of the B vitamins, but if you have something else for poultry I'm sure that would be fine too.
