I've recently been told that in my location, wet western Vancouver Island, BC Canada, getting totally rid of mites is nearly impossible. Managing is more key. We've been trying with multiple doses of ivermec... administered in different ways, and the **** bugs just come back. We dust with DE as well. It just seems that the chickens deal with it. We've had two sick birds out of 50 and it is questionable what kind of sickness they had, but the other birds seem just fine. They are not covered in mites, mind you, they only have a few around their vent area. Either way, mites are disgusting and not an issue I even knew about prior to getting chickens!
