Mites and ants under waterer

Permethrin is used in human products, it is labeled and safe for both humans and poultry and most importantly it works.
DE does not.

I've researched permethrin in the past but my mite problem seemed to subside, but the dark, wet underside of the waterer is seeming to attract pests. I'll probably let it dry, sprinkle DE, and if that doesn't work I will get the permethrin unless anyone else has any other opinions.

I think it depends if you just have pests under the waterer or if you find any in the coop and on the birds. I think drying things out and/or relocating the waterer is a good start. I bet the birds will make a tasty snack of any critters under there!

If you see mites under the waterer you can safely assume they are living in the cracks of your coop too.
Take a flashlight to the coop tonight and look around.
