Mites and Ivermectin usage

1.8% is per ml or whatever unit it's measured by, not referring to the pea size being 1.8, math Is really NOT my strong suit. :(

Hey, no worries. The standard ivermectin tube is 1.87%, which means it has 18.7mg of ivermectin per gram. I did an experiment where I weighed 6ml of the paste and it weighs 6 grams, which enabled me to verify how much medication is in a pea sized amount. I'll find those pictures so you can see. :D

Thank you! I just opened that link and I'll spend some time reading it for future use (and a good bookmark)

@casportpony
  While I have your attention Kathy, one of my hens has a eye infection.  Its definitely from a poof head feather growing into her eye and irritating it and not anything more serious.  We have been giving her doxycycline but it does not seem to be helping at all.  We also tried neomycin eye drops which also did not help.  I was thinking of moving her over to Bactrim do you have any thoughts on this or recommend a better med?

On hand I have Sulfamethazine sodium, Cephalex, Tetracycline, Bactrim, doxycycline, and rondiazole.
I live in the country with no bird vets around so I keep a large array of meds around in case of emergency.

Can you post a picture of her eye?

Brilliant link! Loving that first one so far and it will be very useful for my flock of various birds. I'll go see if I can get a good picture of Trooper's eye for you.

You have given me some great links to bookmark for afternoon reading :) Thank you so much!

Here's Trooper's eye. Apologize for the state she is in, she actually looked like this when I got her and hopefully now she will only start looking better.

She's getting a crust on the lid which is getting into her eye as you can see in the first picture. I haven't cleaned her eye up today. I've looked at her eye closely and I do not see eye worm, just a really bad infection.
