mites and lice

New to the whole chick raising, i have heard chicks can get mites and lice. How will i know if they have these and how can it be cured? thank you Just trying to be cautious!!!

You can usually see them, mostly at night. I just go in the coop with a flashlight at night and lift up the tail feathers and have a look see. I use sevin dust. I normally try to dust on a regular schedule to prevent them from getting the lice/mites.
