Mites in the chicken coop?

They sound like the mites my coop had and permethrin poultry dust product worked very well. I treated the coop 3x, each 7-10 days apart and it killed all the mites. My coop had a terrible infestation this summer. They were literally oozing out of the coop's crevices. Do a deep clean (remove all bedding) and sprinkle the dust down, then replace the bedding. Make sure to put some on the roost since the mites crawl onto them at night while they sleep.

In my opinion DE is worthless. Some people swear by it and it's great if it works for them but I haven't had any luck with it. Permethrin is very cost effective and works. You do need to treat weekly for 3 or 4 weeks because it does not kill the pests eggs but will as they hatch out so repeat treatments are necessary. Also you might not see any pests during the days as some only come out at night and feed on the birds. I use a headlamp so I have both of my hands free and go out to the coops after the birds go to roost and inspect the birds. I also take out some paper towels and rub the roosts on and under with the paper towels and look for streaks on the paper towels which is also a sign of mites. Again, good luck...

No, DE will not help. Get the permethrin 13.3 NOT the Permethrin 10. mixing instructions are easy. you can mix it stronger for the coop. I spray the coop every other month just because. If one of the girls come by, they get a squirt.

Look for spray to keep flies off of livestock such as horse and cows. Will likely have permethrin. If not report back what you find.

I don't about what is or is not used in other countries . I do know you can order online from TSC.
