Miss P is loosing some of her feathers. It seems to be just around the head and crest.
Sparse feathers and some crusty stuff at the base/ skin. Don’t see anything moving. Her gal pal came from the same breeder has similar condition under her “chin” too. Can any of you experts help me identify what’s going on?

It's hard to see what you're talking about in your pictures. The crusty stuff, is it white? To check for mites, check the bases of feathers in warm areas, moving the feathers and looking quickly. (Even on bad cases of mites, they can be easily missed because they hide so fast.)

It could be a plucking issue. With my mite and lice free flock, my hens has plucked all the beards off of each other and plucked some other feathers as well. (My flock is currently wearing Pinless Peepers to stop this.)
