a staff member brought her chicken in yesterday, she is having a severe mite issue. the problem is after she left she left a bunch of mites behind. finding them in kennels so. from what we have red on vet sites they can hitch a rid on other critters. does anyone know if seresto collars or frontline will help us out on the cats in the room the chicken was in. Im worried about carrying it home to my chickens and house birds esp

I think northern fowl mites are species specific meaning they will soon die if not on an avian host since they need an avian host in order to complete their lifecycle. For your own chickens and birds, just make sure you take a shower and wash your clothes. Mites aren’t usually something that’s THAT contagious unless birds have direct contact with affected birds. I’ve dealt with pretty bad infestations myself but haven’t had an issue with mites biting me or my other animals so far
