mites on wound

Ell most of yall know I despered my rooster as he was ripping up one of my hens. Well they are both healing nicely, but I discovered mites all over her worst wound. What do I do?

Normally I would suggest sevin 5% to rid her of the mites but you don't want that in an open wound. The only other option is to treat it like leg mites and smother them. For overall coverage you could do what I do for my kids when they come home with lice. Apply mayo all over and work it in down to the skin. Put her in a bag (reduces mess) with head out and let sit for 20 minutes. Then wash her with soap (dawn works great) and blow dry on low making sure you get the under feathers dry. You may need to provide heat for her and vitamins in her water as she will be lacking both from being injured and having mites. Good luck!
