Does anyone have any idea of what I’m looking at here? I haven’t noticed any of the other chickens having issues. They’re free range in my yard so they’re not pecking at each other or anything like that. This is after I washed it off. I hatched this girl probably around a year ago now and she’s had no issues prior to this. Thanks in advance guys!

It looks like she got her foot caught in something and ripped off the leg scales on it. Or something tried to grab her and got her leg. Could you try to clean out the wound to get a better look at it? If the scales did rip off than you’d have to keep the area clean so it doesn’t get possibly infected.

I also would call it an injury (or possibly even a tumor/cancer).

Looks nothing like mites to me. Or at least I've never YET seen a spot get that bad with no other indicators on the rest of the legs/feet.

Does dry blood or scab come off when you soak it or clean it with a wet towel?

I hope she recovers quickly! :fl
