Today I took out two roosters. One that I raised from a chick and who is now in the crock pot! YUM! the other bird I also raised, but his health i found to be very poor upon Butcher. I've seen some mites on my birds every now and then and have sprayed them and their roosts with mite spray. this rooster had mounds of mite/lice dander and eggs along with plenty of live mites crawling around. I believed this specific type of mite not to be contagious to humans, but really want to make sure. I will post some pictures with this post i can't do that i'll comment them in. my questions are as follows : are these mites a problem for humans and what can I do for the birds or Give them orally to help with this problem. preferably natural remedies or medication. I'm not a fan of the motor oil idea. Thank you for getting back to me!!
