I know this is a chicken mite, but my mother swears it's a "grass beetle".

I couldn't get pictures of the other ones, but most of them were orange and were crawling around in the chickens' feathers.Mites are usually black or dark red, the size of a pin head and move. That doesn't look like anything to me.

I just started treating mine for lice last week, will finish up this weekend.
I used sevin this time, it was handy.
Search the forums for more info, it's simple to treat.
Btw you can take a look-see under everyone's skirts, around the vent. They crawl away quickly. Post more pics if you see anything concerning.
Honestly, I can't tell the difference between the two. @Justso that's exactly where the lice were.
