    I found them on my roo at night. When they're roosting go in with a flashlight move the feathers away and shine it on the vent area. You'll see lil bugs walking around and maybe even white egg clusters in the feather shaft. The bugs that my roo had were very clear (I think the were lice) but they can also get small black bugs (I think those are mites). I get confused about what lice and mites look like. Good luck.

    There are a couple of different kinds of mites. Mine got these ones that were reddish colored and hard to see last year. The birds had egg clusters on their necks, right under their chin ( chickens have chins) where they couldn't reach to pick them off. I used Sevin and it took care of it.
