Mites

I think my bantams have mites. I can not find food grade DE anywhere in town, only ant and crawling insect killer DE. Will 5% Sevin work just as well and do I have to worry about it getting in feed or water since they're both in coop also? If I can use the Sevin, how much should I put in a 4 x 4 coop? Thanks in advance.

I use Sevin. I sprinkle the floor when I change the bedding and in the nest boxes and on the perches. You can add some in an old soak and dust the chickens around the vent.
