Mites

Sevin is what I have heard used the most often One poster said they put Sevin in a garbage bag, then put the chook in and only allow the head to stick out. Then gently seal the bag around the chook's neck and puff and shake the bag and the dust will get all over the chook. You can do the whole flock while you are at it and you should. Best of all, none of the sevin is wasted.

Not a bad idea to buy some 10% sevin because I heard a rumor that it was being taken off of the market. Not sure if that is true or not, but good to have it on hand if you have dogs, cats, or chooks.

Hey Backyard Poultry Buffs,

Last week we found mites on one of our hens. It was the only one in the entire flock that had them. We treated her with Frontline spray. One squirt under each wing and one squirt just above the vent. Checked on her the very next day and she was completely mite free! It's quite expensive at $46.00 per bottle, but well worth it.
