two birds have mites, need to know how to get rid of them!

Hi,

I use food grade diatomaceous earth on my birds. They enjoy dusting themselves in it and so I spread it in the area where they normally dust themselves and they do all the work.

It can also be used to kills mites in your coop. Sprinkle the diatomaceous earth throughout the area...in the cracks and crevices, on roosts, on the floor, on the walls, etc.

The DE works by lacerating the exoskeletons of the mites when they come in contact with it. It then kills them by dehydrating them.

DE can also be fed to your chickens. I sprinkle a little on top of their feed everyday to help with internal parasites and to keep them healthy in general.

Keep an eye out to make sure if does work. Some have reported that it works best as a preventative. If it doesn't you can use seven dust.
