mites

it looks like mites to me. they seem to be gathered around the vent. how do i get rid of them?

found out from other post that they are lice instead of mites. will de get rid of them?

It is difficult getting rid of louse, you can use poultry louse powder (applyed every month) but in my opinion it only keeps the levels down but not get rid of them. I don't know what anyone else would say but I add Frontline, spot on cat for treatment of flea,tick and lice. I add three drops of solution on each chicken on the neck (contact with skin). I don't eat eggs for about two weeks, just in case. And the chickens seem fine. with itI find this works very well with conbination of frontline and louse powder.

i also used frontline cat with great success, i used 2 drops for normal sized, and 1 drop for bantams. 24hours later all lice dead.
