Hello folks,

I have six red sex links. About a month ago i started noticing bare spots on five of them. This has progressively gotten worse. I have dusty each with seven dust, the coop and the run. The birds do not show any signs of improvement. Egg production as well as eating habit has not decreased.

The bald spots are getting worse.

What if anything can I do? I have not tried eprinex.

Thanks again.

And you are sure they are not molting.. Where are the bare spots? If they are under the wings or around the vent area, then it probably is mites.

And have you noticed them pulling there own feathers out? If so you may have depluming mite. We had it once could not get rid of it by any topical treatments had to finally put down all our chickens and start new. I really hope you don't have that mite.

The other type of mites you should be able to treat with topical stuff like you are doing but you have to stick with it for a while. We no longer bed with hay, only straw, we feel dry straw has less of a chance of mites. And we also use diotamatious earth in and around our coop and I wouldn't hesitate to use it on our hens as well. This is what has worked for us.

Ok I will give it a try. I have also been told that wood ash is effective, is this so?
