Mixed Age Chicks Cuteness Alert

We’ve had a lot of “is it safe to mix chicks of various ages?” posts lately, so j thought I’d share a success story. I took this today in my brooder. The Bielefelder is 5 weeks old, and the Sapphire Gem and Easter Eggers are 2 weeks old. They have a brooder plate but prefer the “real thing”, and she is more than happy to accommodate them.

I just did this today with my 4wk Olds and 1 day old chicks... and exactly the same thing happened. The older chicks love the babies and the babies cuddled right up under them.
