Mixed age flock - feeding question

What do you do when you have pullets that are too young for layer pellets in the same flock as adult laying hens? Is it sufficient to give them all chick feed and offer oyster shell?

That is what a lot of people do. Just offer the oyster shell free choice.

That's good. I was worried there was some other additive/mineral/etc. in the layer feed that isn't in the chick feed. But I guess plenty of chickens out there only get to roam for their food and they do ok
