Mixed bantams from the feed store.

Could the black one be a black rosecomb? That's the closest I could find to my chick, but I'm not sure. s/he doesn't have any white, I guess the wings and under the chin are maybe dark gray, not black, but the rest is black black.

Can you tell what type of comb it has? I ended up with an all black chick (feet and beak included) that has a rose comb, so the best we figure is it's a black rosecomb.

I think your five toed white ones are Sultans.

The chipmunk chick could also be a speckled sussex bantam. I got three from my TSC bantam bin, and ours also came from Mt. Healthy.

The black mystery chick is mysterious, like mine! Mine has more gold on it though, like around the eyes.

Looked at the comb more closely, no, not a rosecomb, it has a single comb.

this is fun! Can't wait to see what they really are! lol

The "sultan" chick has black barred or mottled featehrs coming in on its wings. So I'm thinking it must not be a sultan? What else could it be? Or just a poorly bred hatchery sultan?

The other white one I still think is a white cochin.

The chipmunk one I am pretty sure is a Dutch bantam. I think I'm going to go back and try to get a couple more so I can get at least a pair for sure. They are so gorgeous! The black I also think is a Dutch bantam, it's feathers are coming in plain black. I suspect they're both pullets, but they're only a week old.

As for the black/gray and white, I am very sure 1 is a mottled cochin. It has some major featherage, black and white, coming in on the legs and the wing feathers are black with white flecks. The other, the feathers are coming in very slowly (maybe I have a pair!) so I'm not sure yet if it's a brahma or mottled cochin.

I had a chick that looked exactly like the black one. I never really I.Ded it but here are some pictures of it grown and as a chick.

Maybe they are the same?

I don't think my white one with 4 toes is a cochin anymore. She has some really long pure white wing feathers coming in, her muffs/beard have gotten much more pronounced, and her legs haven't gotten more feathered except at the very bottom. The feathers right at the foot are getting super long and thick, but the leg feathers are still fine and hairy. I'm starting to think she's a D'Uccle. Would TSC sell a white or porcelain d'Uccle?
