So excited. Today is Hatch Day! I put the neighbors golden comet rooster with 3 of my hens. *we didnt have a roo* Anyways we let him do his thing with my barred rock, easter egger, and my gold laced wyandotte. The first to hatch today was a EE and as of right now its colored like dad! More to come I had 20 altogether!

You're lucky! My rooster, a Blue Andalusian/Jersey Black Giant, runs our flock. Our of 40+ chicks we've hatched from the hens, ONE was something other than black, gray, or black and gray. That one was white with some barring, and she was from a white egg. That meant our Cuckoo Marans roo caught our White Leghorn alone once.

Our current crop of black and gray puffs. And the roo. The guy said it was a Cuckoo Marans, I have my reservations.

As of right now I have 18 of the 20 already hatched and the last two are making good work of getting out of the shells.

I removed the 18 chicks thinking the other two were dead but once I got them out realized they were chirping and put them back in. I'm surprised I didnt shrink wrap them in the shells.

We tossed 2 eggs before hatch day due to not being viable so these two make it out 20 out of 22 eggs hatching is great!
