I have week old chicks wanting to put them in the coop. They will be by there selfs sealed from drafts and predators. The temps are around 80 to 85 in the day and 60s at night will have a heat lamp in with them. I have ventilation at the top of the coop.

Temps for 1 week old should be about 85F reduced every week by 5 degrees. I would keep them under a good warm light even during the day. Ambient temps outside the coop might be 85, but make sure that inside the coop where they are staying is 85 as well. Night time is the critical time.

Ok thanks. I was going to keep heat in there till they were 4 weeks. Or all feathered.

If you have a good accurate thermostat you can keep an eye on the temp, too high and they could cook, too low and they could get sick. Remember, at 1 week old they would still be under their momma and she is nice and toasty under those feathers. 4 weeks old should be fine where you are at.

Yeah I'm going to keep a thermometer in the coop next to the light. And I'm not going to let em in the run until I take the light out.
