Hello all,

I am new to raising chickens and purchased some "hens" the beginning of May. We have one Buff Orpington, one RIR, one Bantam(of unknown kind), and two Cuckoo Marans. The Buff, RIR, and Bantam were 12-14 weeks when we got them and the Marans were 10-12 weeks. They would all be between 19-23 weeks currently. I know I have at least one roo and am concerned that I actually have 4. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Red is clearly a roo. He crows CONSTANTLY. It doesn't matter if it is day or night.

Thanks ahead of time!

I can retake some pictures and post more if needed. But that is exactly what I was afraid of. The Marans were actually fairly expensive($15 each compared to $4 each for the other 3) so I was REALLY hoping that wasn't the case. I will run out and take better pictures and be back shortly.

Thank you for the quick reply even if it wasn't the news I wanted to hear.

Well, that is a bit of a disappointment. Any chance the Maran breeder will trade me out for hens since he did sell them to me as hens or am I just out the $30 on these? I was really looking forward to those chocolate eggs.

Thanks for the help on identifying them. Time to re-home them I suppose.

If they were sold to you as hens if they have any decency they should swap them out or take them back and refund you. I'm gonna guess tough luck because good people are hard to come by nowadays but the best of luck to you.
