I have a very young flock and am new to birds, and I have a sick gosling. After unsuccessfully trying to treat him at home while looking for a veternarian in my area, I finally got him in to see my traditional dog/cat vet who did an xray to find perosis. I am a human nurse and my gut was telling me there was some kind of dislocation or physical injury to his hock but the only thing I could find in my online searching was always bumblefoot. He did improve a little when I started him on antibiotics, so I wrongly assumed bumblefoot was correct. Now that I have an actual diagnosis I am researching about it, and I came across all the posts on this page about perosis and tendon slipping.... if only I had been a member first I might have helped my little guy sooner.
I have 5 members of the winged flock, 3 dogs, and 4 cats. I'm terrible at taking pictures so I don't have many, but I will post a pic of each bird when I get home today.
Chickens:
Gertrude aka Gerty was advertised as a golden sex link pullet, and looks very similar to golden comets- all red
Henrietta aka Hetty is a speckled sussex pullet
Louise is a white Pekin duck hen, who lost her sister Thelma to a predator around 8 weeks of age and appeared to not be doing well so we added some more waterfowl:
Pearl is a white crested hen
Henry is an Embden gander.
