Hello Chicken Parents!

I’m wondering about adding some new chirpies to my flock. I had four, a gorgeous Black Australorp, who was killed by a coon, and my three remaining ones, a German Beilefelder pair and a Jubilee Orpington. They are all so pretty! I cried when I lost my Tillie Girl. My last loss before her was a lavender Ameracauna. I gave up on free ranging and until I finish my new coop/run and completely cover and protect it, I will just keep my three pretties.

I particularly want unique birds. I’m doing this strictly for my pleasure. I give away my extra eggs. I am looking for a True Whiting Blue and Green, but there are none available in South Mississippi. I think Polish snd Silkies are just so much fun! I want a tufted Cream Legbar, once again, none around here. I have a real fear or ordering through the mail but can’t drive to Iowa to get some chickens. Any words of advice?

I have the room and may start raising some of the more unique ones at some point in time.

I saw one chicken that had a bright red breast. Not sure if kind, but, would love to see some color in my run.

From what I have seen is sometimes polish get picked on for their heads. Not sure about silkies I have no experience there. Slow introductions are definitely going to be key.
